Kitchen Aid Electric Mixer, Naming her Carmen (get it Electra, Electric Mixer)

My new baby, the Kitchenaid Electric Mixer. I paid $275 for it in July when I was employed. And I'm going to use it today for the first time to make ultimate pumpkin bread.

Italian Baked Lamb Chops

I'm making this, Italian Baked Lamb Chops, for lunch and dinner tonight. Yeah, I'm back to cooking baby! I'll take a pic of my final product and append this posting in an hr or so................ Bon appetit!

Thank God I tried that recipe out before trying to cook it for Davey. It didn't turn out that well, I had to nuke it in the microwave to cook it because it was still visibly red on the outside. Didn't snap a picture because it didn't look so good. Now I have enough leftovers to feed me til the end of tomorrow. So I'm not going to my parents until Wednesday to stock up on some food. I'm poor this week. August has been a sloooooooow month.

Anyways, I was going through my recipes and I'll make the Spicy Chipotle Lasagna for Davey if he comes up to NYC this weekend. He mentioned in an email last Friday morn abt coming the weekend after which would make it this coming weekend, but he hasn't followed that up with a more substantive email so not sure. Anyways I asked him if he wanted brownies with almonds or vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting. I'm hoping he says brownies so I don't have to buy an electric mixer.

2010 Resolutions

What are my 2010 New Year's Resolutions?
  • Mostly to get financially stable and to save money
  • Build a master chef's kitchen stocked with appliances, dishes and cookware
  • Maintain 95 lbs (hard considering I started cooking Fri, Sat, Sun)
  • Do a sub-4 hour 2010 NYC marathon
  • Move to a one-bedroom on the UES in Jan 2011 (does that count since it's 2011)
  • Make more friends, be more social (NY Flyers)

Cooking Part II

So I cooked crab bisque yesterday for Christmas. I added too much salt so it came out too salty. Also had to constantly skim off foam off the top of the seafood bisque, prolly won't make that again anytime soon. Check out my FB page for pics.

I made Pasta Bolognese today and that came out so much better. My parents thought it tasted really good and it was easier to make than the crab bisque so I'll be sure to cook it again.

I also cooked Sauteed Crab with Egg, Scallion and Ginger, a family recipe. I haven't tasted it yet so I'm not sure how it turned out but my mom said it came out well.

Tomorrow I will cook Chicken Pot Pie. I forgot to buy the frozen puff pastry so I will go to the Stop and Shop on Northern Blvd on my way back from Equinox in Great Neck to run 2 miles, my first run in two weeks. My right ankle is completely recovered.

I am going to give myself a budget of up to $30 to buy some cooking utensil or apparatus. This week I bought a $33 10.5 x 7 red baking dish.

I'm also not going to get the $550 Burberry Pink Perspex Tote but will save up to buy a $265 Kitchenaid electric mixer from Amazon.com. I'm also going to get the Pink Florentine Laptop Bag next Wednesday.

I have to get 1099-MISC forms for my two clients, Adam and Julieta. Hopefully they won't exceed 10 recipients.

Cooking

My new hobby is cooking. I'm going to knit sporadically and hope to finish Paddy's sweater by Mar 2010, but full steam ahead on cooking. I'm also not going to go out to dinner anymore at restaurants, instead I'll check out menus for cool dishes to cook myself. I'll still go to brunch tho, maybe once every three months. I'm hell-bent on saving money next year. I'm even going to take a Sushi and Sake 101 class at Sushi Samba to learn how to make my own sushi.
