End of Brian

OK, Brian just ended it with me because he didn't think we had enough chemistry and logistically we lived too far apart. I was going to try and argue with him but I am not going to. I think he's too fat and he has a 4 year old son. So no Great Adventures this Fri. I might see if my bro wants to go to Great Adventures on Fri.

No one else has contacted me on the dating sites so that's a bummer. I joined match, eharmony and okcupid. I might rejoin plentyoffish.

I seem to max out at two dates with a guy and then they end it. Hope I break out from that. Maybe I'll just post on craigslist on the long-term dating section. That's how I met Rich and I dated him for like 2 months.

Oh I'm going to Atlantic City Wed to Fri morning, that'll be my vacation this year. Short trip. Plus going to Boston weekend of August 7-8. I need to focus growing my business. Maybe I'll take a break from dating.

NYC Marathon in 5 days and counting!!!

I think I'm slowly getting over Marty. He was kinda ugly and I wasn't attracted to him at all. I just liked his personality.

Anyways, I'm not running with Nori or Marty for the marathon. I've decided to run it on my own. That way I can slow down or speed up when I want to and not have to worry about someone else... My aim is to finish this marathon in 4:10... so 9:30 minute miles. I did 9:30 min miles for the Brooklyn Half-Marathon and that tactic was to slow down at the water stops and walk while drinking Gatorade and then speeding up after the water stops to run at a 9-9:15 pace. Worse case scenario is I do 10 minute miles and do it in 4:22 like the LI Marathon. It's my first NYC Marathon so so excited. I was going to ask my mom and dad to wait for me at the finish line, but I don't think I'm going to make them do that. I was also going to ask my friends to come and cheer for me along the route, but I don't think I'm going to make them come out.

On an interesting note, I have to say Marty's treating me like shit. One reason I'm getting over him. He's not the nice guy I thought he was. I know I'm not dating him anymore but the least he can do is respond to me. For instance I sent him a fb message last Sunday asking him if he was doing the Poland Spring Marathon Kickoff 5 mile race yesterday. No response so I sent him an email on Tuesday asking him again abt that and the marathon. Then Wed or Thurs night I see him online and he apologizes to me for not getting back to me via chat, and I tell him thats okay, to let me know. Then on Saturday morning I see him online and he tells me he's not sure if he's running the 5 miler. And then saying judging from our half-marathon (we ran the first 7 miles of the half marathon before I lost him) we prolly can't run the marathon together. I am pretty pissed off since I thought he was my training partner. I even gave him a gift of a running book. If only I can take it back. So I tell him we'll run the races at our own pace and just meet up at the start and he agreed to that. But lately, I've checked his race finish times and they are much faster than what he used to run. I want to caution him not to go out too fast, that's what happened to Rich. He ran the first 20 miles in 8:30-9 minute miles and then he was butchered for the rest of the run and ended up walking and finishing in 4:43... which means he averaged 11 minute miles. To go from 9 minute miles for the first 20 miles, to average 11 minute miles for 26.2 miles means you're walking the last three or four miles. I'd rather keep a 9:30-10 minute mile pace then to go out fast and then burn out before the race is over. If I learned one thing from Team for Kids while training for them is that you should run your last 10k faster than your first 20 miles...

Hmm that was a long paragraph but too lazy to divide it... :)

Bets

I bet with Rich way back when I was still talking to him that the DOW Jones would reach 10K by 9/30/09. Lo and behold on 9/11, the DOW is at 9600. Go me. I don't think he'll contact me because I unfriended him on Facebook. But I was so tempted to send him a postcard from Aruba, but then I decided against it.

Evan friended me on Facebook. I could have looked him up on Facebook, I briefly thought about doing that, but then the feeling passed. Then lo and behold, he friended me about a week ago. Who would have thought he's thought about me. I haven't communicated with him via fb, I never did like him that much. Never was I ever in love with him, not like it's with Marty.

Busy weekend

I had a busy weekend. Let me start it by going through what happened Friday.

I went to my first Yankees-Bosox game. I want to go to Boston and attend a Yankees-Bosox game there, but I digress. It was a great pitchers' duel between Josh Beckett and AJ Burnett. Somewhere in the 7th inning, I wondered how many innings this event will go through. I stayed until the 14th inning, and then I had to leave because I had to catch the 1:19am train home, if I missed it I would have to wait for the 3:20am train home. The game ended 10 minutes after I left with A-Rod hitting a 2 run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 15th inning.

So after spending 5:30 hrs, I spent a relaxing Saturday at home. I helped kill, clean and then I cooked crab with egg, scallion and ginger. It came out quite nicely making me reconsider myself as a bad cook.

Saturday night was busy, I went to my cousin's daughter's banquet party. She was barely 3 months old. Her name is Sandrine. Not a fan of her name. It rhymes with gangrine, but whatever. Not my child. I stayed for an hour and then jetted off to visit my friends Chiemi and Jacqui at Chez Jacqueline, got the lobster risotto and chardonnay. I enjoyed the wine, which surprised me I don't normally like wine.

I luckily caught the 11:19pm train back home by 10 seconds. Got home 20 after midnight as they ran out of taxicabs at the train station.

I then got about 4 hours of sleep because I had to wake up to catch the 5:57am train to Penn Station to meet the bus going to DC at 7:15am. You see I had bought a ticket to see Cristiano Ronaldo play soccer with the Real Madrid team against DC United at FedEx Field in Landover, MD. 4.5 hr bus trip culminated in a parking lot barbecue of hamburgers and hot dogs. Went with the Real Madrid meetup group. Ronaldo only played the first half but I was in heaven watching him play for 45 minutes. He left after the first half, but Real Madrid scored three times to win it 3-0 over DC United. It was a great match if you were a Real Madrid supporter.

Then it took abt 5 hours to get back home at 10:45pm. I got home again at midnight, just to see my dad pull in from work.

This week is a chill week. Just have lunch plans with a former co-worker on Thursday.

Also it's day 9 of my running sabbatical. One more day of inertia and then I get to return to running on Wednesday Aug 12. I am debating on whether or not to ask Marty to go running with me this weekend. I am thinking I should go alone to test my fitness, don't want to drag him out and then stop in the middle of the run. But I haven't seen him in 2 weeks and I miss him. I think I'm going to fall hard for him. For however much I liked Rich, I was never in love with him. He was way too conservative. But with Marty, I can feel myself slowly falling for him. He walks with me when I need to walk during our runs, he doesn't abandon me. How nice is that? I even wrapped his gift ahead of his Sept 18 bday. I gave him the extra copy of Running Within I accidentally purchased before I even met him. It's not at all personal so I most likely will give it to him for his birthday. And it's not like I bought it for him. That and a $3 map to Central Park. So my whole gift to him was $3. I found my Central Park map, on another brighter note. I love that map.

Okay this is a long enough entry, I'll write more when I start running and keep you posted on whether or not I am doing the long run on my own this weekend or not.

Work ending this week

My assignment ends on Friday and I have no job, but I think I'll get a job at my friend's new start-up hedge fund. Keeping my fingers crossed that that will work out! It'll be on 57th and 6th Avenue which is walkable from my current apartment.

I still have not decided what to do about Rich. I can't seem to sit well on the notion that we are broken up, but he doesn't see long-term with me, so what's the point.

Gossip Girl

I watched Gossip Girl this past Monday and it was oh so juicy! Time to see it again next week. I saw it at the boy's apartment.

I love Blair and her hair!

Status update

Nothing new and exciting to report so far. Had an emergency to attend to yesterday morning at my family's so I had to skip brunch. Came back in time to see the Nutcracker. The Sugarplum Fairy with her eight children in her dress was a delight as the 100 ft Christmas tree. It was a spectacular performance. Giselle is still number one though on my list of ballets.

Then I went to watch What Happened in Vegas with Rich who came back from his vacation.

Two more hours to go before I can leave this place. It's going to drag out slowly.
