NYE

So New Year's Eve will be at Mo's place. It's a NYE Party thrown by Chiemi's good friend, who is in a rock band Deadbeat Darling. It has a James Bond theme so I will have to dress as a Bond girl. I will wear my never-worn before formal black dress and look for a cigar. Not sure if I should just go back to my parents instead tonight. If it was not a costume party, I would definitely go. Decisions.

Status update

Nothing new and exciting to report so far. Had an emergency to attend to yesterday morning at my family's so I had to skip brunch. Came back in time to see the Nutcracker. The Sugarplum Fairy with her eight children in her dress was a delight as the 100 ft Christmas tree. It was a spectacular performance. Giselle is still number one though on my list of ballets.

Then I went to watch What Happened in Vegas with Rich who came back from his vacation.

Two more hours to go before I can leave this place. It's going to drag out slowly.

The Giants end the season 12-4.

The Giants lost to the Vikings, 20-19, but they rested most of their starters, including Eli Manning for the second half, so no big deal. They still get a bye week next week and top seed in the NFC. I am hoping that the Philly Eagles get eliminated in the wild-card game. I don't want the Eagles meeting the Giants in the NFC Championship game.

Bah Humbug!

A bah humbug sort of day! I am at work today, the day after Christmas, in what will be the most boring workday ever. I don't think the managers or half the regular team is going to even be here today so it's going to be a very sloooow day.

If I get out early, I may buy something from Jacadi for my friend's 9 month old son.

Cooped up.

Hoping against hope that Friday is a day off. At least Thursday is Christmas and I am going back to my parents' home.

Found out that my manager and this guy that I usually work for are both gone today. That means another day of glancing through directories and reading about the news. How exciting!

I learnt how to knit last night at a knitting workshop. I feel so proud to have mastered the knit stitch. Next Monday I will learn the purl and how to cast off. I can make scarves :)

Giants lose, again.

Giants lose to Dallas Cowboys 20-8, they fall to 11-3 and they are starting to look mediocre. Come on, Eli Manning!

So Ronaldo is tied to Nike, that explains why he is not moving to Real Madrid. Maybe he'll go to Inter Milan although I hope he stays with Manchester United.

Waiting game

I don't think I have any more work to do because the people who were supposed to do the work before me haven't finished posting. So now I have to wait!

I have no money to shop on eBay. I got a repeat customer who wanted me to sign off on a letter. A cool extra hundred. Not so bad! I won't be bouncing any checks today! I should keep track of how much money this CPA designation has given me.

George W Bush

I read an article on Gawker regarding George W Bush. His 20% popularity rating in the polls show his failure with Katrina, Iraq and the economy. Yet deep down inside, I don't think he's to blame for the economy. I still like George W Bush despite it all.

DBD Concert on December 5

Deadbeat Darling is performing at 8pm at the Mercury Lounge this Friday December 5. It's month-end so I hope to be able to leave by 8pm on Friday which should make me on-time for the performance. They rarely go on at the scheduled time, usually 45-1 hour afterwards.

Nothing much is going on today at work.

Giants go to 11-1, tied for the best record of the NFL with Tennessee Titans

Giants power over the Washington Redskins 23-7. Their defense was impenetrable as the first Redskins' touchdown was from an interception. The Giants go to 11-1 for the season and face the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday.

Manchester United still in third place despite win over Manchester City.

At my parents

Finished eating Thanksgiving dinner. I went to the New York Health and Racquet Club at Great Neck and was not impressed. It does have a treadmill and that's all I'm using so I have to make do.

I have tomorrow off and it's a paid vacation day. Not sure what to do tomorrow besides going to the gym.

Watching the NFL, Dallas is beating the Seattle Seahawks 31-9 in the 4th quarter.

What's going on with me

So I'm going back to my parents in Bayside starting tomorrow evening for the Thanksgiving break. I have work on Friday so I am going to come in from Bayside. It will be good practice for when I move back home.

I didn't wake up this morning to run, I'll do that after my therapist meeting tonight. I also have to run tomorrow morning to keep up with my running schedule. I ran 9 miles last week and am scheduled to run 14 miles this week.

This day is dragging by slowly...

Worried

I'm getting restless and antsy. I want a traveling audit job, but I don't want to move to CT. All the leads that recruiters have told me about have not led anywhere.

What to do?

I may be unemployed at the end of January.

Still sick and no work

Still waiting on some responses at work. And they keep asking me if I finished something and I keep giving it to them.

Trying to save money

On my quest to become more frugal, I am going to search my apartment this weekend to find the missing clothes, it has to be somewhere. Rather than go out and spend more money which would have been what the former May would have done.

I was able to finally get off the hotel charge on hotels.com. I am disputing the airline charge since hotels.com doesn't even have a record of it being charged to Bill Me Later in the first place. That should be off so I will be getting back $342 that I paid in Bill Me Later. I hope they reverse out the finance charges since I wasn't supposed to be charged those fees in the first place.

At least I will not have to worry about that bill.

Kinda busy today but have a lag

The title of this blog says it all.

I am feeling somewhat better, I am not dripping all over the place but I still have somewhat watery eyes and am sniffling. I don't think I will be able to run until Sunday and then I might not last 4 miles. Should I chance running the Race to Deliver and end up walking the last 2 miles, or should I just skip it? I am also going to skip the next two or three running classes and try to build up my running when I feel better next week. It's better than me getting myself up to the Upper East Side and then turning back after a mile.

This Saturday I may have to come in to work. I need to get my new Taryn Rose shoes tapped, so I am kind of annoyed, I need to do that so I can wear skirts.

This Saturday I am going to go to Jacadi on Madison and 67th to get replacement clothes for Catherine's 4 year old daughter Olivia and 8 month old son Alonzo. I bought them clothes over the summer or in the spring when it was her daughter's birthday but I can't find the clothes, which sucks because I think that cost me at least $65!

If I can order her stuff from jacadi.com I would order her this dress, but alas I have to live in France to get clothes delivered:

Still...

Still no work. I just applied to about 10 jobs, most of which require international travel.

Meeting with a recruiter at 6:30pm. Intriguing job in Plainsboro, NJ, for a 40% international traveling pharmaceutical auditor job. I wish I can get that job.

Picked up Theraflu and it still didn't work.

Got my NYHRC temporary ID card, but won't be going back until I am over this cold.

Busy Busy

Running class bust

I think I got sick from going to the running class last night. I have to get Theraflu from the Duane Reade during lunchtime in addition to getting my gym documents from NYHRC.

I signed up for a Tuesday and Thursday 6:30 Advanced Intermediate running class at NYRR. The last two times I was there including last night, I only lasted a mile before heading back.

That's why I joined the NYHRC to get back into running shape. I used to run 6 miles at one time and not feel so winded! I have to get back to that shape!

I am going to train on my own for the next three weeks and then go back to the running class. I have to train in order to be a part of the running class.

Day of rest

Back at work, the guy I mainly report to is out today so I have the rest of today to slack off.

I wonder if I will be like the consultant whose office I sit in. We have an office that we share. She's been here since last September, that's over a year of consulting. That would mean every week for over 52 weeks I would need to ask my manager to sign my timesheet. I wonder if I can stand that long. I get paid a lot as a consultant, 1.5 times plus I get overtime so maybe I do want to stay a consultant.

I already joined New York Health and Racquet club. It was $102 a month for 2 years. It's better than Equinox which was $170/a month with a $250 initiation fee. I will not spend over $150 for a gym. It was $139/a month for one gym. That's outrageous.

There are locations in Whitehall and Great Neck, so I can go there when I visit my parents or am at work. I am not sure which location is closest, 45th and Lexington or 50th and Madison. Probably 45th Street. I will check that out tonight after my tax appointment at 6:45pm.

Did I mention that I did a woman's personal financial statement at work in less than 10 minutes? I charged her $150. I wish I can find more clients like hers. They take less time than meeting a tax client which takes about an hour to get there and then 15 minutes of talking to them. I am going to get a phone line in January just in case I can get fax clients.

My first blog from work

I bought a running jacket today at Century 21, it came with a pair of jogging pants as well, so I better be able to make it to my running class. I did that because I forgot to bring my running jacket to work.

These people at work better not give me any work to do at 6pm, because I am leaving at 6pm to go to the running class.

Danica's website looks new, it has a white background, but there are no dates next to her blogs so it makes it difficult to follow when she wrote stuff.

Giants go 8-1

The Giants win over the Philadelphia Eagles 36-31. I went to sleep around 9:30pm so I didn't watch the whole game, but they were ahead in the second quarter, so I thought they had it in the bag.

Now comes the hard part of their schedule. Arizona next week.

Ocean Drive or Long Island Marathon?

I'm determined to run a marathon next late winter or early spring since I can never get into the NYC Marathon. I'm torn between the Ocean Drive marathon the last weekend of March or the Long Island Marathon the first weekend of May. It'll probably be easier to train for the Long Island Marathon since it'll be warmer from February to April as opposed to training from December to February.

I am also not sure if I should hire a trainer to devise a running schedule for me. Maybe I will try to devise my own running schedule and for my next marathon, which will be the 2009 NYC Marathon (I finally will get into it next year, don't ask me how), I can hire a trainer so that I can do it under 4 hours.

My original goal is to run 10 minute miles for the whole duration, which would lead to a time of about 4 hours, 20 minutes, but we'll see maybe I'll start walking after the first 20 miles!

The Giants beat the Dallas Cowboys 35-14.

The NY Giants go to 7-1, if they keep playing like this they may be headed to the playoffs. Next week is a hard game against their archrivals the Philadelphia Eagles who are 5-3.

Giants vs Steelers

The Giants are trailing. Oh wait, there is a safety and it's tied. Yay, maybe the Giants will win this game even though they haven't made a touchdown all game long.

No more Ted Lilly updates until next season. I'll be watching the Yankees from the new stadium.

Lost digital camera

I am determined to find my digital camera. The last time I saw it was on the trip to Thailand. I don't think I lost it there. But I have to retrace all the areas that it could be at. That will be Project Find Lost Camera.

I have decided to eliminate all my debt by the age of 33.

Yes, that's a lofty goal, but I think I can do it. I just have my student loans to worry about. Then I'll start repaying my parents back for the loan they gave me to get rid of my credit card debt.

Hopefully that gives them about 5 years of me paying them back because they will live for at least that long, if not longer.

I just have to move back home from June 2009 to May 2010. That may be a problem finding a home for Guga. I will find several homes for him until I can get him back. I am determined in keeping Guga. I just won't be able to live with him until May 2010.

Working

I've been working really late these days. I haven't even had a chance to update my blog. Will try to post more often.

I wonder where John is. It's October, he should be back.

Ted Lilly update

For the playoff rotation for Round 1 of the World Series is Dempster, Zambrano, Harden and then Lilly. I just read an article on why Lilly should be second. Not sure if I agree though since Lilly didn't do so well in the playoffs last year. I don't even know if the same manager was there so I don't know the thinking behind that.

Maybe I'm projecting, but he always looks concerned. I'll post a pic shortly.

Excited to see Ted Lilly at a Mets game next week.

I am tentatively starting a temp job at RBC Capital Markets on Wednesday. I hope there is no overtime on Thursday because I want to go to the Ted Lilly's Cubs-Mets game on Thursday. I may even get expensive seats so I can see him pitch. I hope the Cubs make it to the World Series.

So sad AIG is out of the DJIA

I left AIG and hated AIG because I had no work to do, but I didn't want it to go through this.

Monday, September 15, 2008

Ted Lilly goes 15-9

Ted Lilly nearly followed Carlos Zambrano to make it back-to-back no-hitters for the Cubs against the Astros on Monday. He settled for a combined one-hitter, giving up a single to Mark Loretta with no outs in the seventh. Lilly struck out nine and walked one in seven innings, throwing 88 pitches, defeating the Astros 6-1, going to 15-9 for the season.

Sunday, September 14, 2008

No Ronaldo news. I almost forgot about him. Ronaldo set to return against Chelsea next weekend.

I finished the taxes for the music company. So that's $350. I also finished the non-profit on Friday and the guy will mail me my $2500 check.

Giants win 41-13 over the Rams.

The Giants are now 2-0. Let's go Giants. Jason Tuck scored 1 TD, 1 interception, 2 sacks. Eli Manning was great as he scored 4 touchdowns.

Watching the Giants-Rams game at home.

I went to my brunch at Dolce Vita and blew off the Giants-Rams meetup. And nobody showed up to my brunch, so I should have just went to the Giants-Rams meetup. But I didn't know where it was. I'll definitely go to the Giants-whatever meetup next Sunday!

Nobody showed up to my brunch at Dolce Vita. How sucky!

Ted Lilly wins his 14th of the season

Lilly pitched eight solid innings and survived a head-on collision at home plate as the Cubs took advantage of two errors by third baseman Felipe Lopez in a four-run second inning to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-3, on Wednesday night.

Lilly (14-9), who lasted two innings in his last start, against the Reds, struck out five and gave up five hits over eight efficient innings to match his longest outing of the year.

Sunday, September 7, 2008

so Chad Pennington was released from the Jets and plays for the Miami Dolphins.

I just realized this halfway into the Jets-Dolphins game. I thought Favre and Pennington were playing for the same team. I am behind the times. I am still a huge Giants fan! I am going to watch the Giants-Rams game next Sunday.

Tom Brady left the first game with a leg injury. He may be MIA from the Jets-Patriots game next Sunday!

My healthy lunch!

Saturday, September 6, 2008

I have to finish these taxes by tomorrow at 4pm.

I should do these tonight but I am not motivated enough.

Friday, September 5, 2008

Ted Lilly, why oh why are you sucking now?

It's 9-0 Cincinatti over the Cubs in the fifth inning and Ted Lilly started this game. That means he'll most likely go to 13-9. I guess 16 wins is no longer really achievable!

Explanation of Apartment Pictures

I was feeling nostalgic on my trip back to my old apartment to meet with some new realtors. This time they hail from Corcoran so I know this time my apartment will be sold in a few months! The guy drove me back to midtown in his souped up BMW. I am sure that they will sell my apartment in no time. Which won't come any sooner since I need my parents' help to afford to live in Manhattan.

I sorta miss the high ceilings, hardwood floors, and the new appliances I had in the old apartment. I wish I had a 60K job that could afford that lifestyle. Now I make $8/hr and I have to finish that accounting project to pay my September rent which is late.

I am not motivated to do the taxes though.

Saturday, August 30, 2008

Back at my parents for Labor Day weekend, although I have to go back to work on Monday morning

I was able to start the taxes for the 5K client. I finished their statement of position. Not too bad for an hour of work. I will work on it all-day tomorrow.

I have a guest pass to the Great Neck gym. I vow tomorrow to be the start of my running program. I am going to train and successfully complete the Miami Marathon in January 2009.

The Cubs lose 5-2 to the Phillies and hand Ted Lilly his eighth loss of the season.

Ted Lilly goes to 13-8. I hope he gets to 16 wins! I can dream, can't I? I actually watched the last two innings. Of course it was on Fox. I missed the Ted Lilly pitching part.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Ted Lilly wins 12-3 over the Pirates

Ted Lilly, despite giving up home runs to two left-handed hitters, picked up his 13th win of the year. He threw his cutter effectively and kept the Pirates' hitters on their heels the entire night. He goes to 13-7 for the season.

Brunch at Essex

I didn't like my dish, it was scrambled and I expected sunnyside over eggs.

The company was large for brunch, 11. I wish that many people showed up to my brunches!

Lunch at Benoit Bar and Restaurant

My five ravioli was a rip-off but there was nice conversation during lunch.

Friday, August 22, 2008

Thursday, August 21, 2008

Ted Lilly loses a no-no in the fifth inning as well as the game 2-1.

For five innings, Ted Lilly looked to be on his way to something special. But after no-hitting the Reds for five frames, things slowly fell apart for the lefty, who departed after seven innings having allowed just two runs on two hits. Lilly is now 0-3 vs. the Reds this season and falls to 12-7.

Ted Lilly lasted six innings to notch his 12th win.

Lilly has a no-decision as the Cubs win 3-2 in overtime, 11 innings.

John is stuck in Beijing for the next two months. And he is surrounded by Asian girls. I think the irony is not lost on me.

Ted Lilly joins the 10 club, as he goes 10-6 in a 10-6 game

Ted Lilly went to a record of 10-6, in a game coincidentally that ended in 10-6, Cubs. He hit a single, stole a base, and caught a baserunner, all while posting a quality start. Go Ted Lilly! He joins Ryan Dempster and Carlos Zambrano in the trio of 10 game winners that the Cubs have.

I may get an iPhone finally!

I tried eating at the sushi place on 2nd and 53rd Street, but it wasn't going to open til 6pm. So I came home and ate a burrito. I've been saving lots of money by eating a burrito for dinner. My mom got me a whole bunch of burritos.

My brother is coming into the city perhaps tonight to buy an iPhone. He is going on the family plan, so I may get an iPhone too.

Opera Subscription

This is the opera subscription I am planning on getting for the upcoming opera season. Feel free to email me if you want to reserve any opera. I will let you know what seats I decide upon when I buy the series.

My Internet at home works! It just got hooked up this afternoon.

I just bought a laser printer duplex to print out the CFA notes so that I can sell them. I just need to get the CFA materials. I emailed about them. I think if I sold 20 books/flashcards, I would make enough in a month. This is just to tide me over until I make the big bucks as a personal trainer.

Monday, July 14, 2008

I just stole the calculator from work.

Long Beach here I come!

I'm going to the beach tomorrow! I will go on Wednesday as well. Then I have to wait for the cable guy but if it's early when he's done, I'll go on Thursday. Friday I have work and a Yankees game so I'll forego that. It may rain on Sunday so I might see if my friend Chiemi wants to go on Saturday instead.

I need to buy a few books to read at the beach. I'll be nice and toasted since it'll almost be 90 degrees.

Waiting for nothing

I ended up waiting 5 hours for the Apple iPhone and not getting it because I have a small business account and have to go to the AT&T Store. What a waste of time! They should have told people on line about that!

Friday, July 11, 2008

I am tired this morning. I got maybe three hours of sleep. I woke up at 4AM and went to the AT&T store at 6:45AM and was unable to get the iPhone

I wish today was my last day. My eyelids are heavy and I want to go home.

I think that was the sign not to buy the iPhone. The rampant problems with connecting service.
